There is something absolutely magical about lifestyle newborn photography. Getting to capture families in their own safe haven, the place they do life – the place they first bring their babies home to – it is all so beautiful to me. And it is for this very reason I quickly knew I wanted to specialize in this type of newborn photography, and gave up my photography studio altogether.
It is also the reason I decided to quit my full time corporate job, teach myself photography, and start my own full time photography business. See, I am not one of those that dreamed of being a photographer since I was little. In fact, it never even crossed my mind until I had my daughter and hired a newborn photographer myself. Unfortunately that experience was not a good one – from the actual session itself to the entire client experience. But I’m truly so thankful for that now. It is because of that experience, that the idea of becoming a photographer myself entered my mind. I just knew that I could teach myself photography and would make sure my client experience was the absolutely best it could be. I would run my business the way I, as a mother, would want to be treated from start to finish. Fast forward 8 years later, my photography business is thriving and I get to shoot exactly what I love to shoot – newborns and motherhood.
I adore this session in particular because you can actually FEEL the love through the photos. This beautiful couple struggled a very long time with multiple miscarriages, two failed IVF treatments, and miraculously finally conceived naturally. It is truly such an honor to capture images like these for all of my families, as each family has their own special and unique story. So to have a very small part of that, knowing these will be images they will be sure to always cherish, I’m forever grateful.
Ok, it has only been over a year since I posted here. That’s not too bad, right?. Ok, it is pretty bad. Somehow with all of the social media “stuff” you have to do now as a business owner, the website “stuff” just keeps getting pushed to the end of the to-do list. But here I am! Back and ready to do this thing called blogging!!
This is a recent family session that I absolutely love. I love when I get to shoot something out of the box, something different. We started at a fantastic little coffee shop downtown and then headed over to the Lumen Room. I hope you enjoy it! xo, Lauren
I LOVE Fresh 48 hospital sessions! They are such an incredible way to remember those first few days in the life of your newborn, as a family. As a Mom of three myself, I know what a blur those first few days in the hospital can be. So capturing those moments are priceless, and are photos you will absolutely cherish for a lifetime.
Mommy+Me sessions are absolutely one of my very favorite types of sessions! There is something just so special between a Mom and her precious baby. Capturing the love and pure joy – the bond is like no other. As a Mom myself, we are typically the one behind the camera, capturing all the sweet moments in our children’s lives. But every now and then, we need to be in the photos with our little ones so later they can see and feel the love we had in these small yet shaping moments. Contact us now for your Mommy + Me photography session!
I’m so in love with this sweet lifestyle newborn shoot. It is probably one of my very favorites to date. There are sometimes when everything just comes together – the light, the white furnishings, the simplicity, the wardrobe and the beautiful family. I’m a firm believer that when you have the little things – white bedding, fresh flowers, the right outfits, you really don’t need much more. This shoot was done in an apartment, with minimal decorations and it is absolutely perfect. I always tell my clients – you don’t have to have a huge home, with a ton of stuff, that is professionally decorated. My goal as your photographer is to capture ’emotion’ – the love between you and your family. And all it takes are the little things. And sometimes less is more actually. Enjoy!
So I don’t typically shoot a ton of engagement sessions as I really try to focus on my specialty of newborns and families, but when my handsome cousin Harrison asked if I would be willing to take his engagement photos, I couldn’t pass it down. It’s what we do for family – right?! And when your cousin looks like a model, along with his stunningly beautiful (and sweet) fiance – it is a session I knew would be absolutely amazing. And of course it was – the light, the couple – everything was perfection. Enjoy! xo, Lauren
Love this precious family session – it is getting me very excited for all the families I will be photographing in the next few months for Fall season! These sweet girls are about to turn one and were absolutely adorable. Their newborn session is still one of my very favorites to date, so I absolutely loved seeing them again. Enjoy!
For this lifestyle newborn shoot, the only room we shot in was the nursery. I love how much you can really do in just one room. Goes to show, when the lighting, the wardrobe, and the ‘style’ all come together – the possibilities are endless. Enjoy this precious newborn shoot with this beautiful family! xo, Lauren
I love photographing this sweet family and have especially loved watching their sweet little girls grow. I’ve been photographing them for quite a few years now and it truly is an honor when families keep coming back to you session after session, year after year. I also love how this session turned out – the colors, the field, the wardrobe – it all just came together perfectly. I have to say, this Spring has been quite frustrating with all of the rain we have been having. I am literally at the mercy of the weather every day. Having two children of my own I’m constantly having to juggle babysitters – rescheduling and rearranging them due to rain – trying to find another day and time that works for both me and the family that I am shooting. That is truly the only part of this business that can be quite daunting for me. But thankfully, the rain cleared out for us this particular morning, literally minutes before we started shooting. So I choose to be thankful for the little things, like the fact that it is almost June and hopefully all this rain will go away for a little while 🙂 Enjoy this beautiful family! xo, Lauren
I just absolutely love everything about this newborn lifestyle photo shoot. The light, the family, the pure sweetness of it all. I say over and over again how these are my favorite types of shoots – and it is because as a Mom, I know how meaningful and loved these photos will mean to the family years and years from now. Time goes by so quickly (especially the first weeks as a newborn – lets face it – we are exhausted!) so capturing it – in your own home – where you bring your babies home to, is absolutely priceless.
